Lamar Hall Lectern
While the renovation of Lamar Hall is still ongoing, phase I was completed in Summer 2013. As a result, the University of Mississippi opened Lamar Hall for the Fall 2013 semester. Many months were spent preparing for this event. In the Office of Information Technology (IT), staff members led by Johnny Price with IT Classroom Technology (CT) met and worked out the details of implementing the technology infrastructure necessary to support the classroom technology needs in Lamar Hall. Below are some of the highlights.
Technology Highlights
Fourteen classrooms were made available for Fall 2013. Classrooms 126, 129, 326, and 327 have tiered, fixed seating configurations, each with a seating capacity ranging from 102-107 seats. The remaining ten classrooms (107, 310, 315, 320, 321, 404, 406, 407, 411, 413) feature dynamic classroom arrangements with tables and chairs. These classrooms have a seating capacity ranging from 20-27 seats with the exception of room 404, which has a seating capacity of 44.
Regarding the classroom technology, all classrooms feature instructor lecterns that include a Dell Optiplex desktop computer running Windows 7 with Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2013, a Samsung Blu-Ray player and an integrated audio support system. The large classrooms (126, 129, 326, 327, 404) contain an ELMO document camera, a lectern microphone and lavaliere microphone. In Spring 2014, four more classrooms (127, 130, 131, 132) are scheduled to be complete. These classrooms will be equipped similar to the tiered classrooms in Lamar Hall.

IT Support
Kris Keller
In addition to the technology enhancements, IT has a support office in Lamar Hall. Kris Keller, a part-time Academic Instructional Technology Consultant with IT, is located in Lamar Hall, room 135. Kris works closely with Johnny Price and other CT staff members to ensure that the classroom technology in Lamar Hall is running smoothly throughout the day. Kris also provides classroom technology support across campus after hours.
