Technology Reminders: UM Box, WiFi, and Vault

Posted on: August 4th, 2015 by

We know you are busy. Please take a moment to review these brief and useful technology tips.

Box

In very simple terms, UM Box is an alternative to your USB drive.  You get 15 GB of storage by default and automatic document versioning.  Do you need more than 15 GB?  Just ask for more.  In addition, you can collaborate with other faculty and students using Box. All University of MS (UM) faculty, staff , and students have access. Log on at box.olemiss.edu using your WebID or review our common questions and answers.

UM WiFi

When connecting to UM WiFi, you will see three choices: OleMiss, OleMiss_v2, and Eduroam.  On UM campuses, choose OleMiss_v2 if you want to avoid the frequent logon prompt.  When visiting another campus, Eduroam could be an option for you. So, read about it before your next trip.  Check out wifi.olemiss.edu for more details.

Vault

If you are a UM employee, I bet you receive a high volume of emails.   Get the vault.  The vault gives you an additional 5 GB of disk space.  All of your email stays on campus. If you want it, contact the IT Helpdesk for assistance with setup.
